Happy Diwali - 🌄🌅🌠- Festival of Lights

Regina Arabia Yoga | OCT 24, 2022

It wasn't until I moved from my native country Brazil to the United States that I became familiar with the joyous Festival of Lights originated in India called Diwali.

The uniqueness of this five day festival is its harmony of Vedic philosophies; Each day is dedicated to a special thought or ideal drawn from different legends and traditions of the Vedic era.

Preparing the home, cleaning and decorating with lights and adornments, as well as wearing new clothing and cooking special treats to receive guests and sharing with neighbors are some of the festivals traditions.

Day 1: Welcome prosperity into your home, commit to self-care to promote growth.

Day 2: The day to abolish fear and doubt.

Day 3: Victory of Good over evil, light over darkness.

Day 4: Special home made snacks to friends and neighbors.

Day 5: Gratitude. Affirmation of the light of love within our hearts.

The ways in which Diwali is celebrated, and even the variation in dates, reflect the vast diversity. What's consistent and what can be adopted and celebrated regardless of religious beliefs or ethnicity is the celebration of good over evil — the victory of knowledge over ignorance. If this resonates for you, take a moment over the next few days to light a candle in acknowledgment of your own growth and illumination.

Enjoy in full grace of abundant blessings to come.
