When I became familiar to Yoga Nidra, I was in full immersion teacher training.

I approached my training wholeheartedly every moment of YTT felt like an opportunity for growth but was rather intense physically, mentally and emotionally, until I discovered Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra practice was like receiving a blanket of love and a boost of vitality at the same time.

In Ayurveda, this concept refers to as building Ojas, or the “vital sap”. The practice helped me with digesting experiences with non judgmental awareness, aiding rest and recovery.

Demands of modern life style and stressors, can take a toll on our mental and physical health. In order to show up for daily tasks, care for loved ones, and to participate fully in life, practices such as yoga nidra can be of great support.

Yoga Nidra also known as yogic sleep, is a powerful meditation accessible to all.

This systematic method of meditation takes you through the layers of the self, known as Koshas, from gross to subtle body, from physical to energy, allowing for a sense of wholeness, a state of equanimity.

How to practice:

When resting in Savasana, laying on the back, the side, or in seated easy pose.

Any props to support are welcomed, such as blankets to cover the body, bolsters under the knees or back, eye covers or equivalent to support the body.

Simply follow the voice that is guiding you. As you relax, you may not remember all the guidance and it is fine, the unconscious mind will absorb the practice for its benefits.
